WHY HANDWRITING STILL MATTERS

In an increasingly 1 world, in which almost everything is typed, many schools have quietly reduced the time spent on handwriting. (DIGIT)

Some educationalists argue that teaching children to write by hand has become almost entirely 2 in the twenty-first century. (NECESSARY)

Recently, however, 3 have uncovered a number of surprising reasons for keeping the old skill alive. (RESEARCH)

Studies suggest that taking notes by hand improves the long-term 4 of information far more effectively than typing does. (RETAIN)

The slow, physical act of forming each letter may even encourage a young child's 5. (CREATE)

Writing by hand also demands a kind of sustained 6 that tapping at a keyboard rarely requires. (ATTEND)

Learning to write neatly, moreover, quietly teaches children a valuable lesson in 7. (PATIENT)

If these findings continue to be ignored, handwriting may 8 vanish from our classrooms altogether. (EVENTUAL)

A veces.
