You will hear two students, Alex and Maya, discussing a documentary they are making for a university assignment. For questions 1-7, choose the best answer (A, B or C). You will hear the recording twice.

Alex: So, Maya, we need to finalize the topic for our documentary. We've been going back and forth for weeks now.
Maya: I know. I was thinking, what about that idea we had about street food vendors? There's a great story there — people building businesses from scratch, working incredibly hard.
Alex: I liked that idea at first, but I'm not sure it's strong enough for a thirty-minute documentary. I mean, it's been done before, hasn't it? There are loads of food documentaries out there.
Maya: Fair point. But the angle we discussed was different — we weren't looking at the food itself but at the economics behind it. How people manage to survive on such thin profit margins.
Alex: That's true. OK, I'm coming around to it. What about the other option, though — the one about community gardens in deprived areas?
Maya: Honestly? I think that's a stronger topic for a written essay, not a documentary. It's important, but visually it might not be that compelling. With the food vendors, you've got the sights, the sounds, the energy of the market. It practically films itself.
Alex: You've convinced me. Let's go with the street food angle. Now, in terms of structure, how do you see it working?
Maya: I think we should follow three vendors over a period of two weeks. Get footage of them setting up, serving customers, dealing with suppliers. And then interview them about their experiences — the highs and lows.
Alex: Two weeks might be tight with our other deadlines. What if we compressed it to one week but spent more time with each person?
Maya: That could work. Quality over quantity, I guess. The key thing is building a connection with them so they're comfortable on camera. People open up more when they trust you.
Alex: Absolutely. What about the technical side? We've got access to the university equipment, but the sound gear isn't great. Street markets are noisy places.
Maya: I was thinking about that. My brother has professional audio equipment he said we could borrow. It's designed for outdoor recording, so it filters out a lot of background noise.
Alex: That would be brilliant. And editing — are you still happy to take the lead on that? You're much better than me with the software.
Maya: Sure, I don't mind. But I'd like you to handle the music selection. You've got a much better ear for what works with the visuals.
Alex: Deal. One thing that worries me, though, is the deadline. We've got three weeks, and we haven't started filming yet.
Maya: I think if we plan efficiently, it's doable. The biggest time sink is usually editing, not filming. If we can get all the footage in the first week, that leaves two weeks for post-production, which should be enough.
Alex: As long as nothing goes wrong. Remember last year when Tom's group lost all their footage because of a hard drive failure?
Maya: Don't even remind me. We'll back everything up to the cloud every single day. I'm not taking any chances.
Alex: Good plan. Right, shall we go and scout some locations this afternoon? I know a couple of markets that would be perfect.
Maya: Sounds great. Let me just grab my camera and we'll go.
